Representative, El Salvador (P5, FTA)

About the role

The Representative leads a country office team in the design and implementation of a population and development and sexual and reproductive health country programme, working with governments, UN and bilateral agencies, civil society, academia and the private sector to advance the 2030 Agenda. Reporting to a Regional Director, the role covers strategic direction, resource management, programme leadership and coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Position UNFPA strategically in the country based on global, regional and national policies, and build relationships with government, civil society, the private sector, the UN community and others
• Set priorities for the Country Office and integrate sexual and reproductive health and rights into the national development agenda
• Manage international and national staff, including performance appraisals, and drive a resource mobilization and partnership strategy including donor relations
• Ensure staff safety and security through compliance with MOSS and MORSS
• Advise senior management, lead policy dialogue and technical assistance, and represent UNFPA in the UN Country Team and UN Humanitarian Team
• Drive results-based management, quality assurance and financial and monitoring compliance

Required profile

• Advanced degree (at least a Master's) in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management or related fields
• 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration and international development, with at least 8 years in population and development, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian work at the international level
• Experience in advocacy and policy dialogue at national and international level
• Proven ability to lead teams to high-quality results
