Representative, El Salvador (Population and Development)

About the role

UNFPA is seeking a Representative for El Salvador to lead a country office team in designing and implementing a population and development and sexual and reproductive health country programme. Reporting to a Regional Director, the role integrates sexual and reproductive health and rights into the national development agenda, works with governments, UN Country Teams, civil society and partners, and delivers results in normal and emergency settings.

Key responsibilities

• Position UNFPA strategically in the country and build relationships with government, civil society, the private sector, academia and other partners
• Lead the country office, manage resources and staff, and set performance standards
• Develop and implement a resource mobilization and partnership strategy, including donor relations
• Lead the country policy dialogue, represent UNFPA in the UN Country Team and the UN Humanitarian Team, and support the UN Resident Coordinator
• Drive results-based management, quality assurance and financial and monitoring compliance
• Ensure staff safety and security in line with MOSS and MORSS standards

Required profile

• Advanced degree (at least a Master's) in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management or related fields
• 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration and international development, with at least 8 years in population and development, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian work at the international level
• Proven ability to lead teams to high-quality results, and experience in advocacy, policy dialogue, media and communication
